Task Details
Record the task being assessed, the worker posture observed and any relevant notes.
Group A – Arm and Wrist Analysis
Score upper arm, lower arm, wrist and wrist twist. The tool then uses RULA Table A and adds muscle-use and force/load scores.
Step 1 – Upper arm position
Select the upper-arm posture score, then apply the adjustment factors if relevant.
Step 2 – Lower arm position
Select the lower-arm posture and add one point if the arm works across the midline or out to the side.
Step 3 – Wrist position
Select the wrist posture and add one point if the wrist is bent from the midline.
Step 4 – Wrist twist
Select the wrist-twist score.
Step 6 – Muscle use score
Add one point if the posture is mainly static or repeated frequently.
Step 7 – Force / load score
Select the force/load score for the arm and wrist analysis.
Group B – Neck, Trunk and Leg Analysis
Score neck, trunk and legs. The tool then uses RULA Table B and adds muscle-use and force/load scores.
Step 9 – Neck position
Select the neck posture and apply adjustment factors if the neck is twisted or side bending.
Step 10 – Trunk position
Select the trunk posture and apply adjustment factors if the trunk is twisted or side bending.
Step 11 – Legs
Score whether legs and feet are supported and balanced.
Step 13 – Muscle use score
Add one point if the posture is mainly static or repeated frequently.
Step 14 – Force / load score
Select the force/load score for the neck, trunk and leg analysis.
Summary and Report
Review intermediate scores, final RULA score and action level before printing or saving the report.
