Metal Waist PHES7 is a passive harness exoskeleton suit designed to support selected work involving prolonged bending and physically demanding tasks involving the handling and movement of heavy loads.
Metal Waist with Strong Hand PHES9 builds on PHES7 by adding enhanced power-assist capability through a detachable hand grip. IEH recommends a structured suitability review, including task assessment, load review, worker fit review, pilot validation and training before wider deployment.
Built for load transfer, adjustability and demanding work environments.
Metal Waist is intended for selected work settings where workers handle heavier loads, bend frequently or require structured waist and back assistance.
Metal Waist PHES7 — Passive Harness Exoskeleton Suit.
Structured support for bending and load handling
Metal Waist is a new type of industrial exoskeleton that enhances the wearer’s productivity and reduces pressure and torsion on the L5/S1 disc area when the wearer’s back is bent down. Through ergonomic and structural design, the user’s strength and freedom of action are enhanced.

Deploy through assessment, not assumption.
Metal Waist PHES7 and PHES9 should be considered as part of a broader ergonomics control strategy. They should not replace proper work design, engineering controls, safe work procedures or worker training.
Before wider deployment, IEH can support task and posture screening, load review, worker fit review, pilot validation, wearing guidance and post-pilot recommendations.
- Task and posture screening
- Load and handling review
- Worker fit and comfort review
- PHES7 / PHES9 configuration selection
- Pilot trial and feedback collection
- Training on wearing, adjustment and limitations
- Post-pilot recommendation before scale-up
Find out whether Metal Waist suits your work.
The right exoskeleton, implemented the right way, can support sustainable work performance and help organisations manage physically demanding load-handling tasks more responsibly.
- Heavy-handling task selection
- PHES7 / PHES9 configuration review
- Real-work pilot validation
- Fit, comfort and worker acceptance review
Note: Product suitability depends on the task, worker, work environment, load, PPE, existing controls and safe work procedures. Final deployment should be assessed before use.

Metal Waist with Strong Hand – PHES9
The Metal Hand Booster is based on the metal waist (back) PHES7, further enhancing its power-assist capability. When worn, the load generated during lifting and carrying is more effectively transferred to the back and shoulders, helping to reduce pressure and torque on the L5/S1 intervertebral disc area and to lessen the load on the lumbar muscles during handling tasks. This product is well-suited for applications involving the movement of heavier items.
The Metal Strong Hand is designed for construction site workers performing tasks such as carrying and installing wall tiles. It is a dual-function, multi-purpose exoskeleton that combines arm assist and waist assist to help reduce lumbar muscle strain. The hand grip is detachable during actual use, allowing users to adapt the product to different working environments. The product weighs approximately 3.9 kg, and all other details are the same as PHES7.
