Safety refers to a state of being shielded from harm—a condition preserving people from injuries and undesirable incidents. Comfort eludes us in the absence of safety, motivating us to prioritise safety in our workplaces. Despite our efforts, illnesses can still claim lives in unhealthy work environments. Hence, managing risks from diverse workplace health hazards becomes imperative.
Workplace health hazards encompass a wide array of factors that can adversely affect employees’ physical or mental well-being. These hazards vary across industries and may include exposure to chemicals, ergonomic risks, biological agents, psychological stressors, and physical agents. Recognising and categorising these hazards is the initial step in effective risk management.
